Water Research Specialist

Mills Langehans is a Water Research Specialist for the West Virginia Water Research Institute. Mills graduated from WVU in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Geology. During her undergraduate studies, she was hired as a student researcher in a geochemistry laboratory to analyze cave water samples where she discovered her love of water research. After spending some time working in Pennsylvania for an environmental consulting firm as a geoscientist, she returned to West Virginia to pursue her passion for research and improving the quality of watersheds. Her role at the WVWRI focuses on research for AMD as well as other water quality issues common in West Virginia. This includes water sampling, laboratory work, landowner outreach, and student development. Mills is excited to contribute to WVWRI’s mission of protecting and improving West Virginia’s water resources. Outside of work, she continually finds ways to spend time in nature and plays soccer in a local city league.
